1st Annual Skate Contest 2022

1st Annual Skate Contest 2022

A Day to Remember!

Yesterday, July 2, 2022, Weiden, a charming Bavarian town, solidified its status as a skateboarding hotspot with an unforgettable competition that set the local scene ablaze. Skitch Skate Shop (Grafenwöhr) and JUZ Weiden, with the tireless dedication of organizers Christopher Leach, Florian Graf, Christof Meier, Michael Ringer, and Christian Neidhardt, hosted the 1st Annual Skate Contest at Weiden's newly opened skatepark on Frühlingstraße. Skaters from across Germany—Nuremberg, Regensburg, Cologne, and beyond—converged to display their skills, passion, and love for the sport, competing for over €2,000 in cash and prizes.

Local press outlet OberpfalzECHO covered the landmark opening, reporting around 80 active competitors and over 1,000 spectators filling the park. Skaters threw down two-minute runs judged by a 4-person expert panel assessing difficulty, style, execution, error count, and park usage.
