5th Annual Weiden Skate Contest and Community Festival at JUZ Weiden - Get Ready for an Unforgettable Day!
As we plan the 5th Annual Weiden Skate Competition and Community Festival for late May 2026 at JUZ Weiden, Frühlingstraße 1, 92637 Weiden in der Oberpfalz, excitement is building for what promises to be our most vibrant event yet. Skitch Skate Shop (Grafenwöhr) and JUZ Weiden, guided by the dedicated vision of organizers Christopher Leach, Florian Graf, Christof Meier, Michael Ringer, and Christian Neidhardt, are designing a day that blends thrilling skateboarding with a dynamic community festival. Skaters from Nuremberg, Regensburg, Cologne, and beyond will compete in Weiden’s iconic skatepark, joined by a food truck roundup with six or more vendors, dance routines by local dance clubs, a special needs disco, and live music in the evening. With the exact date, prizes, and final details still in the works, this event is set to unite people of all ages and abilities in a celebration of Weiden’s spirit.
The skate competition will unfold at Weiden’s state-of-the-art skatepark, known for its challenging obstacles and creative layout that inspire skaters to excel. We’re planning for athletes to pay a €10 entry fee and sign up in person at the SKITCH Pavilion next to the DJ booth, with registration for each group closing 30 minutes before their start time. Skaters under 18 will need a parent or guardian’s signature on the registration form to participate. The competition will feature three distinct groups, each offering a platform for incredible talent. Group C (under 18 years) will launch the day, with sign-ups expected around 10:30 AM, a warm-up at 10:35 AM, and runs starting at 11:00 AM, showcasing the skills of young skaters.
Group B (18 years and older) will take the stage next, with sign-ups likely closing at 12:00 PM, a warm-up at 12:05 PM, and runs starting at 12:30 PM, highlighting the expertise of seasoned skaters. Group A (Open Registration & Sponsored) will wrap up the competition, with sign-ups planned for 1:45 PM, a warm-up at 2:00 PM, and runs starting at 2:15 PM, welcoming skaters of all backgrounds to compete. A Best Trick session is also planned, where skaters will perform daring flips, grinds, and slides to captivate the crowd, with exciting rewards to be announced closer to the event.
Beyond the skate competition, we’re organizing a community festival to elevate the day into a true celebration. A food truck roundup will feature six or more vendors serving a variety of flavors, from gourmet burgers, Chili dogs to delicious fried chicken, vegan options catering to every taste. Local dance clubs will perform energetic routines throughout the day, adding rhythm and flair to the festivities. A special needs disco will offer an inclusive space for dancing and joy, ensuring everyone feels welcome. As evening sets in, live music will light up the night, with bands creating a festive atmosphere for all. This fusion of skateboarding, food, dance, and music will embody Weiden’s vibrant, inclusive community spirit.
